Athens

Athens is a vibrant city with ancient history around every corner. In July, it can be incredibly hot, so plan accordingly.

Where to Stay

  • Grand Hyatt Athens – Rooms are clean and comfortable. The highlight is the rooftop pool with infinity views of the Acropolis. Floating loungers, sunset skies reflecting off the water—it's surreal. A great respite from the bustling city.

To Do

  • Acropolis & Ancient Ruins – You must do all the ruins, but arrive on time; late arrivals may not be allowed. It's a lot of walking, inclines, and the heat is intense. Consider booking a guided tour to navigate the paths and history more smoothly.

  • Guided Mountain Access – Highly recommended, especially in summer. Paramedics are often stationed there in July due to heat-related fainting.

To Eat

  • Gyros Downtown – Around 4€, excellent and authentic.

  • Ermou 18 Rooftop – Great views and tasty food.

  • This is Loco – Fantastic food and fresh juice.

  • Mαolva – Steps from the Grand Hyatt, fresh and flavorful dishes.
