Lake Como

It’s incredible here. More mountainous than I expected. The lake is encased by these grand mountains. The lake is sparkly and dark blue, sometimes greenish'/clear at the shore. The architecture and colorful flowers make the lake even more spectacular. It makes this place feel high class and wealthy. The vibe feels the way “young and beautiful” by lana del ray sounds plus a distinct vintage 50s vibe. Colorful buildings and pinstriped umbrellas… wooden boats. I feel like a 50s bathing suit with buttons and an underwire top is meant for this place. Right now I am at the Grand Tremezzo Hotel. It is eclectic, classy, and colors are bouncing off of one another. My black and white flower dress fits right in. The views of the lake and boats from here are breathtaking. I’ve just had a spa treatment that was super relaxing. The Hammam Ritual…. First the masses poured warm water from a silver pitcher on my body. The sounds of the swishing, pouring water coupled with the slight breeze in between pours gave me ASMR tingles (in the best way). I didn’t expect to like it as much as I did. Then a rose petal foot bath, soap massage, steam room, hot bath, mitten scrub, mud body mask and facial with massaging in between. I felt a little unsure about how to stand and sit in the beginning and if I should close my eyes… i eventually relaxed and did whatever felt best. The infinity pool was dreamy with the sparkling lake in the background. Yesterday I walked around Varenna and it was very pretty. I had tiramisu gelato and when I tell you I’ve never seen ice cream melt so fast…. I looked like a 5 year old with melted ice cream all over my hands. Then the wind blew and it all went into my hair and on my dress… there goes my aesthetic, main-character moment… haha. I walked for a while aimlessly with views at every corner. I felt in this moment, an immense rush of gratitude. This moment of quiet and solitude was one of my favorites here. In my adorable Airbnb overlooking the waterfront in Bellano, I ate pasta bolognese and turned on a comfort movie. Then I ate an entire Snickers bar and fell asleep. Tranquility at its best. Traveling solo this time around feels so different than when I traveled alone during study abroad. I feel so much more comfortable by myself and being alone in a new place. This trip is a reminder to continue treating myself on a regular basis and to truly enjoy the moment. To make time for myself, unplug, and rejuvenate. Enjoy life to the fullest and indulge!
